Why Yes, Yes It Is A Picture!

Ok friends, thanks for your patience. Matt snapped this photo this morning before I left for work. You can thank Matt for snapping the picture. It isn't easy to get a shot I am satisfied with these days. "Wait, take that again." "No, not from that angle." "I look huge in that picture!" "That isn't very flattering." I mean, poor guy. He can only work with what he is given! Ok, moving on. You can also thank Jen, Jaime, Mom and Dad, for buying us the camera for Christmas, and Nikkon for supplying the product.

I'll be 30 weeks tomorrow! Everything is going really well and I really have no compalints. I feel so lucky to have made it this far and have so much to look forward to and be grateful for. I'm feeling alot of movement, especially in the evenings when I'm trying to sleep! I love it. I'm still not able to depict body parts. I've heard people say, "Oh, that is his hand. Or that was the head." I don't know what it is, but I know there is something going on in there! My doctor's appointments are now every two weeks. We are getting so excited for this little guy to get here!

And now, the pic:

Sneak Peak in Sunshine's Room...

I know you want a sneak peak at my belly, however I need to take some pictures. Jaime took some over the weekend. I could have taken one today, but after spilling ketchup on my shirt and being in sweats and a t-shirt all day, I simply wasn't up for a photo op! I mean, I suppose in pre-pregnancy days, the ketchup might have fallen on the ground or on my pants...but now, it gets caught up on my stomach. Imagine that!

Ok, ok. You are disappointed. But perhaps a sneak peak at the baby's room will make up for it? The walls are bare, however it is coming along nicely!

And a merry christmas indeed...

Why hello there! Christmas was fantastic! Matt and I packed up our things and headed to Virginia with the dogs from Tuesday to Sunday to spend time with my side of the family. The trip was cut short and we ended up heading back on Christmas afternoon, after learning that we were expecting snow in North Carolina on Saturday/Sunday. We both had to work on Monday and knew it was the best decision, even though it was disappointing to have to leave on Christmas.

I can tell you that we had a great trip. We spent alot of time relaxing and visiting with friends/family. We must have been good this year because we were really spoiled! We even managed to score this precious gem and I'm seriously in love.

Baby sunshine got hooked up as well! He got the ergo carrier, toys, pacifiers, boppy covers, diaper genie, a teething blanket and on and on! That is one loved dude.

Since we have been home all day today, I've had the camera around my neck, playing around with it! I love this thing already! Here are some pics of the house!

Dresden and Ireland have been subject to my photo madness all day. Poor things. They spent their entire day in front of the lens, letting me practice so I can master this thing before the baby comes. Hope you and your family had a happy holiday! Enjoy!

Sibling Love

Matt and I woke up this morning to snow, ice and freezing rain. Awesome! Matt had to go to work for the day shift. I had to go to work because, well, lets face it, hospitals do not close and people still need transplants!

While I was watching the news before work, I looked over and found the dogs together like this, right in front of the fire place. I'm not going to lie, it warmed my soul :) They have brought such joy into our lives!

27 weeks!

How far along: 27 weeks!
Total weight gain/loss: Some things are better left unsaid!
Maternity clothes: You know it. The only thing I can still wear are my sweatpants and some of my tshirts to the gym. Matt dislikes my LOVE for all of his shirts these days. I mean, come on, they are so comfortable!
Best moment this week: Having Matt feel the baby kick
Gender: All boy! He has really been at it lately, moving all over.
Belly button in or out?: Wide, but I think it is less wide than a few weeks ago?!
Craving: COLD COLD COLD. I like fruit and smoothies, only if they are nice and cold. I've also been loving clementines because they are nice and refreshing. Poor baby may come out being addicted to clementines at the rate I'm eating them.
What I miss: A nice glass of red wine
What I am looking forward to: Seeing family and friends later this month for Christmas.
Milestones: Making it this far - I'm always appreciate of that.

Update on Alien Baby:
It is the most amazing experience to feel the baby move around. I love it on so many levels, especially the reassurance that the baby is active. On the same hand, it is also very weird if you haven't ever experienced it before. When I say weird, I'm talking almost alien like. I'm at the point where I can be laying down on the couch and feel the baby kicking. If I look at my belly, I can see him moving around! I often feel like Matt and I are watching fireworks or a light show. We'll say, "Ah! Did you see that?" or "Oh my gosh! Did you just see that!?!"

Hope to find a way to post pics this weekend, but at least I'm writing, right?!

Photoless...

I had Matt snap a recent picture yesterday morning before I left for work so that you can see an updated belly pic. I sat down last evening to download it and the camera refuses to cooperate. Matt even tried and had no success with getting the pictures to transfer over to the computer. In the process of Matt trying, I fell asleep. I woke up this morning and went back at it again. When I went to plug the USB into the port, the entire screen flipped from vertical to horizontal. Awesome! Good work, Jess. So now, not only can I not get the picture onto the computer, we also have to turn our heads sideways to even read the computer screen. Whoops. Looks like the computer might have a date with a computer shop in its future!

I can tell you some of the responses I've had this week to confirm that the baby is growing. You know how it is, everyone loves to comment on a pregnant person's belly.

Most sensitive comment: "You are really blossoming"
Least sensitive comment: "GIRL, you are getting big!!!"

Orange Juice, Please!

I had my glucose test last Friday. I went into the office, preparing for war. After I checked in and was waiting to be called back, the receptionist was sharing stories with me about all of the women that have had the drink and vomitted and/or gagged right after. Gee, thanks lady! My name was called and I walked reluctantly to the lab room where I was greeted with a less than friendly lab technician. She said, "Orange or Fruit Punch?" Hmm, I didn't know I was going to have a choice. You know how I am with choices and you know what my typical response was. I say, "Which one do people tend to like better?" She gives me a less than pleased smile and says, "Orange or Fruit Punch?" I picked orange. She went to go get it and came back with this:

It was cold and she told me I had five minutes to drink it. I opened the cap to the bottle, smelling the drink first. I took my first sip. To my surprise, IT WASN'T THAT BAD! I mean, I wouldn't go order it from a vending machine, but I sat very casually with my legs crossed, drinking my cool drink like it had been a hot summer day. I polished that bad boy off in no time. The results came back a couple of days later and all is well :)

I laughed yesterday at water aerobics. I heard some of the women talking about their upcoming glucose tests. They were all dreading it. One said, "My doctor told me that I need to bring my own cup and straw. My doctor said that as soon as the drink comes out, I should pour it in the cup, and drink it all in one big gulp, otherwise I will gag the whole time." To that I responded, "It wasn't that bad." One of the girls said, "Well, I don't usually like sugary drinks."

Ok, called out. While I may not mind sugar, I am not a soda drinker. I responded, "It tastes like soda without the fiz."

Anyway, baby is doing well. Measuring right on track. Good heart beat. All is well in the world! Will try to snap pics soon!
