Feeding Time For All...

Jake loves to eat - so his love of these little puffs (he likes to stuff as many in his mouth as possible) is no exception.

Tyler decided that Baby Elmo needed some milk also:

Sleepy Jake :)

Tyler really enjoys feeding Jake also. He's always trying to give him something!

I'm not sure why I stuck this in here - Matt and I were out wiht some friends when Grandma Nancy called. She said that Jake fell out of her hands and hit his head on the ottoman in his room. She felt terrible - but he's a resilient guy! In a few days, the marks were all gone!

I know I'm a bit bias, but isn't he adorable?

He's such a happy guy....all of the time!!

May Has Been Busy...

I'm starting to convince myself that the only way to document our happenings will be to do a monthly post with alot of random pictures so let's try it this way! :)

The boys are really enjoying playing with eachother more and more. Jake loves to get on Tyler's bed and crawl around.

Tyler and I decided to go to The Dollar Tree and look for supplies to give to his classroom. We were looking for cars, trucks and any outside toys that could make the playground experience more enjoyable! Tyler had such a great time picking things out - he really likes giving to others!

Every May, we do a bladder cancer walk in honor of our friend's dad. Matt works with his friend, Matt. Matt's wife, Amanda's dad, passed away from bladder cancer. It was a great day and a great cause!

We invited Grandma and Grandpa Farrell over for dinner. We try to do that when we are able since Tyler does not get to see Grandpa Farrell very much.

I know, I know. Who does this?! But here's the deal: It was a nice day and the flower beds really needed some weeds pulled! This was the only way I could accomplish it - Jake really didn't mind (although it was short lived!)

Starting to drink out of a new "big boy" cup:

Jake loves to eat and really enjoyed trying these rice crisps!

You know, dinner time is exhausting sometimes!!

If Jake could talk and describe his favorite thing to do, he would probably say it was to play on Tyler's bed with him! They love rolling and bouncing around on it!

Jake is starting to hold his head up alot more. He doesn't mind being on his stomach and is enjoying play time!

Jake's First Winery...

Once a year, one of the local wineries has a Cork n Pork festival. We have been the last few years with our very good friends, Mike and Wanda. This year, Jake came along. He partied hard...and napped harder! Tyler came along too but I did not get many pictures. He spent most of the time eating candy that Mike and Wanda gave to him, as well as picking up rocks.

When he got home, he was ready for bed and exhausted!

Daddy's Merit Award...

Daddy and his team won a merit award for all of the work that they have done to get drugs and guns off of the streets. I had been prepping Tyler for the "awards show" for quiet some time. We ended up on a mutual agreement that daddy was getting an award for "doing a good job" "at work" "every day."

Jake stayed home with Grandma and I'm glad he did. It was in a formal room and the seats were really close together. Tyler ended up having to sit on my lap. He ate about 10 dum dum pops while I tried to get him to be quiet. The dum dum pops did decrease some of his chatter ie: "Is it almost done? Where is daddy? Is it daddy's turn? Can I clap? Here! Can I have another lolly pop? Ewwww, yuck! (when he did not like the flavor of his dum dum pop), etc. I was tired after the first 10 minutes of the awards show trying to keep this little guy quiet! :)

When the awards show was over, we went out to eat. Tyler had a good time, as one of Matt's friends's daughter's was there also. Her name is Reagan and they are in the same Sunday School class. They had a great time playing together!

Here is Matt with his squad. What a great group of guys! I'm proud of them all, especially mine!

Jen's House and Shooting Competition...

Matt had a gun shooting competition in Virginia Beach (they won first place!) so the boys and I went along with him so that we could visit Jen.

Tyler and Nolan had a great time playing together!

Nolan jumping on Uncle Matt...

Nolan and Tyler liked having books read to them at night before they went to bed.

They share a love of cars...

As usual, Jake went with the flow. This was his first documented time on the swings. He wasn't sure about it initially but we did get a few smiles!

Tyler and Nolan had fun on the slides. They liked putting a car down the slide and watching it go really fast.

We ended the day with some quiet time. They both got popcorn and watched the movie, The Lorax.

When we left Jen's house, Tyler fell asleep less than 5 minutes into the car ride!

We stopped to visit our good friends, Brandon and Pretzel, as well as my godson, Daniel. We also went out to eat. Tyler was so excited to get his chicken tenders and french fries in this car!

First Mother's Day as a Mom of Two...

I had a great first mother's day as a mom of two boys! There was not anything in particular that I "wanted" for Mother's Day. I usually end up asking for plants...as I love to look out the window when I'm doing dishes and see all of the plants and flowers! This year, I got some planted flowers and the boys filled up our hanging baskets with fresh flowers for the season! I was pretty excited - and Tyler had fun helping daddy.

It has become a tradition for us that on Mother's Day, we go to the Sarah P. Duke Gardens and have a picnic. This year, we picked up Chipotle and headed to the gardens. It was a beautiful day for a picnic and was nice to have us all together! I'm so blessed and feel so lucky to be able to be Tyler and Jacob's mommy!

Fun Weekend...

Life feels so busy...all of the time. I cherish the weekends when we are all home together and feeling good. This past weekend was the absolute best.

I love watching Tyler play with Jake. Tyler definitely grabs Jake's attention any time they are around each other. It is so fun to see!

You can't see his teeth here..but the bottom two are in!

We have been trying to teach Tyler about doing various acts of kindness. On this day, we went to the Dollar Tree for him to pick out some new toys for his classmates to play with outside. He also got rewarded by being able to pick out a toy of his own.

Jake went on his first walk today. We walked for Bladder Cancer, after a good friend lost her father to Cancer. Jake enjoyed the walk...but who wouldn't like to be pushed around the block on a nice, sunny day?!

Tyler did well on the walk. It was a one mile walk. He made it about half way before he had to be carried the rest of the way! Those little legs aren't used to walking so far!

We invited Grandma and Grandpa over for dinner. Tyler liked eating dessert with them and liked that they got to read him his bed time stories!

Yard work is a necessity...so Jake had to hang out outside in his pack n play while I pulled weeds. I'd much rather have his set up. He didn't seem to mind relaxing while looking up at the trees :)

Jake is trying to get the swing of the sippy cup but he just isn't there yet. For now, he enjoys chewing on the lid.

Tyler is big into nature lately. He likes to find bugs to put in his bug catcher. Imagine the excitement he felt when daddy found a snake for him to put in his bug catcher. Tyler got really close to me and said, "Mommy! Look!" I told him to back away from me. When I said that, Tyler told me to stop being "mean" to his "friend." Eek - is this what life with boys will look like?!

Jake can't really get into the mum mums. He tries but he makes a terrible face when he eats them. We have tried the original flavor and the banana flavor. They entertain him for about 5 seconds, until he either breaks it into pieces, throws it on the floor or until it gets stuck to another body part of his.

Poor guy - we just couldn't get him dinner fast enough!

Jake's hair looks dark here - but then in some pictures, it looks so light. Good news: he is finally getting some hair!

They love playing together before bed time! :)

See, his hair here looks a little lighter, right?! Little buddy is growing so fast!
